First day of school
Today the kids are a bit anxious and excited to start school again. Nick is now in 1st grade and will get to eat lunch at school. He was very excited about that. Bailey is in 3rd grade and is very nervous. She is so shy and worries about everything, that she makes me nervous for her, but she will do great!
Nick is terrible at taking pictures so Bailey was trying to make him smile. Oh how I love these two!
These two are crazy and full of energy, but they are going to do great. Very proud of them and excited for the new adventures that this school year may bring!

Western Idaho Fair
Bailey has been working on a few paintings with Grandpa Davis and decided to enter them in the fair. When she saw all the categories that she could enter, she decided that she wanted to make and decorate a cake also.
Her paintings turned out great and were super easy to submit. The cake however was a royal pain. Both she and Nick wanted to decorate a cake. So the morning they were to be turned in, we baked 2 8 inch cakes. They could each submit one single layer. Bailey cut her cake in two and added a strawberry filling. Nick decided to frosting his cake green and put lemon frosting on. By the end of that morning, the kitchen was a disaster, frosting was everywhere, the cakes were pretty messy looking and mommy was pretty overwhelmed and frustrated....
Fast forward two days later....
Nick's cake won 3rd prize (which I was completely shocked, but maybe they gave him a prize for being the only 6 year old boy to decorate a cake) and Bailey's got 2nd place. Bailey's paintings ended up getting a 1st place and a 2nd place. After seeing how excited and proud they were, I decided that we will give it a go again next year and maybe I just need to relax a bit.

Since Trent was off work still and Grandpa Campbell and cousin Trevor were here from the camping trip, we all went to the fair . It was hot but lots of fun. The pig races were back, there is always good fair food and the kids had a blast on the rides.

Too much fun for one summer. School on Monday!

camping trip to end the summer
Trent took the week off work to help me with the kids and get them ready for school. He decided to take Bailey and Nick camping for a night and invited his dad to come up and go with them.
The kids had a blast camping up at Cascade and swinging into the lake on a rope swing. They headed to Riggins the next day to sight see and go fishing. While they were there, a helicopter came up to the river to get water for a fire they were fighting just up the mountain. They enjoyed watching helicopters come and get big buckets full of water and drop on the fire on the mountain across from them. Everyone seemed to have a great time and were ready for a shower and their bed when they got home.

Chuck e Cheese
Only one week left before school starts, so we are packing in the activities before homework and all the craziness of school pops up again. So last night we ventured to Chuck Cheese WITH the babies. Their first time going and we weren't sure how they would do (especially Jackson because he gets sensory overload sometimes)
The babies absolutely loved it! Madison couldn't get enough and was running from ride to ride and even loved watching Chucke and his friends dance on stage. Jackson was a little more hesitant, but was not cranky and seemed to be having a good time.

enjoying the last few weeks of summer
Whenever the kids are just getting crazy or I just need to get out of the house, we head to grandpa and Grandma Davis' house. The kids can run around on her 2 acres and the babies love the new environment and getting out of the house too. One of the things they have just discovered is the slide. They can go up and down all by themselves and it keeps them entertained for quite a while.
And they always get yummy treats there too! Grandpa gave them ice cream sandwiches and boy did they love that. Always fun at Grandmas house.....

Bailey picking pears
Bailey spent the night at Grandpa and Grandma Davis house. That night their ward was assigned to pick pears at the orchard, so Bailey happily went along and had a great time!

Quick trip to Utah
My mom offered to watch our kids so we could enjoy a night away. Trent and I couldn't agree on where to go or what to do for a night...McCall, Portland, Salt Lake were all in the running. Portland was too far of a drive for just a night or two. Most of McCall was already booked so we decided to go to Utah. We thought since we were going there, we should probably take the two older kids who have been begging to go to Utah all summer. So instead of a night away as a couple, we took the older kids on a little vacation without the babies.
Trent took Friday off work and we headed down. We checked into the hotel and took the kids swimming before we met Trent's parents at Beihanas for a fun dinner. Nick was asking all weekend if we could go back there to eat again, so he must have really liked it.
The next morning we took the Trax a few blocks down to temple square. The kids love the visitor center and we had to pull Nick out of there to go to Lagoon.
Next we headed to Lagoon Amusement Park. Our friends from Idaho, the Belnaps, were also going this weekend, which made the day even more fun. Grandpa and Grandma Campbell also met us there so we had tons of fun with all our friends and family
Here is Nick and Bailey with their friends Kylie and Lexi at Lagoona Beach

All in all, it was a great weekend. We packed in a whole lot of fun in just a few days. It was nice to not have the babies (including their crankiness, crying and naps) to work around. We get so much more accomplished without two 18 month olds in tow. I did miss them though and was happy to see them when we got back home. So grateful for my parents so we could go and have some fun for the weekend and I could sleep through the night for the 1st time in a while :)

Nick's new bike
The babies love sitting in the bike trailer while we take family bike rides. Nick never wanted to go because he was always tired about half way through Finally we realized that he needed a bigger bike to keep up.
We ordered him a bike and voila..... he is now faster than everyone and loves his new bike.
The babies were helping Trent put the bike together...he really loves their help :)
One happy camper!
