These two asked grandma if they could spend the night tonight. I am always worried when I get a text at bedtime that they want to come home...but this was the text I got..

trip to California
A few weeks ago, we were able to go as a family to California. We stayed with GRandma Parsons in Santa Margarita, went to Universal Studios for a few days and ended at a big cabin in Jackson for a family reunion. We were not sure how easy it would be traveling with 4 kids (and 2 year old twins) but we ended up having a blast. It would have been a little better if the twins didn't end up sick the whole time, but it was still fun.

This was a super great start to the week. Next stop - Universal Studios with the 2 older kids!

Busy Busy Babies
Since school has started, life has gotten a little crazy and busy. It is nice that the older kids are back in school and doing well, but homework, spelling tests, Bailey's gymnastics, and various other activities keep our evenings pretty busy. The days I just seem to run around after the babies cleaning up messes and splitting up fights (yep even at 1 year old they pulled each other's hair and push each other down) Jackson can now open doors, so we have to lock all the doors and try our best to keep them out of the bathrooms and pantry (their two favorite places to make the biggest messes).
Here are just a few pictures that I took over the last few weeks that are mostly of the twins

Twins 1st dentist appointment

Today I took Madison and Jackson for their 1st dentist appointment. When they first mentioned it at Bailey and Nicks appointment last month, I thought they were crazy to want me to bring them in. They said that the exam would be free and it would just be a short trip to get them comfortable going. They also put on a tiny bit of fluoride to protect their teeth.
The babies ended up doing great. We take the kids to a pediatric dentist that is amazing. First thing they did was give the babies sunglasses to wear and a stuffed animal to hold. Then one at a time, they brushed their teeth and put on the fluoride. Both babies seemed to love the attention. Jackson was so proud of himself wearing big boy sunglasses and sitting in the big chair that he just flirted with everyone. Madison was ready to go once she saw Jackson getting all the attention.

18 months and nursery
The babies are officially 18 months. That means they can now go to nursery!!!!! It didn't go so well though. Both babies screamed their heads off when I tried to leave. I later snuck out and within 2 minutes I could hear them screaming through 2 closed doors. After waiting awhile and it not stopping, I headed back in to sit with them. I thought that since they had each other that it wouldn't be too bad, but I was wrong. Maybe next week.

Hand Foot Mouth Disease
Last Wednesday Nick came home from school and didn't feel well. He said his whole body hurt, had a high fever and the rest of the day was spent in bed. The next day he seemed to be himself again, but I kept him home from school anyways. Fast forward to Friday night and both babies were cranky and starting to feel warm. As the night continued, their fevers got worse and they were up all night along with Nick. Saturday they were both terribly fussy and by Sunday morning a bright red rash was all over their body. They even had sores in their mouths and throats, which Nick said that he had also. I then checked him over and found the spots on him also, just not as many.
Luckily my parents were still in town and ran over to watch the older kids before they headed to California that day. We took the babies to the urgent care and they were diagnosed with the hand foot mouth disease. It is a virus so no medications would help. Tylenol and Motrin was what we were told.
Babies were miserable and there was nothing we could do. Fevers of 103, body aches and chills, sore throats and erupting sores covering their bodies. They are also contagious for a few weeks, so we are staying put for awhile. Needless to say, we have gotten next to no sleep the last few days and Trent went back to work today. Since it is Spring break Bailey and Nick will be home all week and probably bored out of their minds. Hopefully babies will be feeling better in a few days.

Jackson has more sores on his face and legs and Maddie seems to have more on her hands and arms.

grandpa and his babies
Before grandpa left for California, he had to stop and see his babies. They sure love him. Little did we know that they were just coming down with the hand foot mouth virus. Luckily Grandpa and Grandma didn't catch it and ruin their trip :)

milk
Since the babies have switched from formula to whole milk, our grocery bill has gone down a lot. But, we now go through about 10 gallons of milk a week. These half gallon containers were on sale for .79 this week, so we stocked up for the next 3 or 4 days. Quite a bit cheaper than the $15/day we were going through with formula, it almost put us in the poor house.

1st year photo shoot
The first photos have emerged from the twins 1st year photo shoot. I really don't think we were able to get a picture where both babies were smiling, but the sneak peek that was sent to us turned out great.

They are also little models for an etsy page selling the cute outfits and accessories
So excited to see all the photos when they are finished

First Tooth
Guess who got their first tooth????
Was it Maddie?
or was it Jackson???
It was Maddie!!!! But of course it is not a competition and Jackson is right behind. Either way, two teething babies are not so fun!
