Total Solar Eclipse

Today was a total Solar eclipse that could be seen from Idaho. Trent's work up in Fruitland, ID was in the path of totality where the sun was completely covered by the moon. They had a BBQ and games for the kids while we watched the eclipse. It really was an amazing experience. When the moon covered the sun, the weather got cooler and it was dark for about 2 minutes. So glad we were able to take the kids and have this experience.

Universal studios

Trent and I took Bailey and Nick to Universal Studios while my parents watched the twins at Grandma Parsons house. It was a nice break to get away for 2 days and be able to have a little fun with the older kids.

We got there just after the park opened and stayed until closing.

And a huge donut from Mo's in the Simpsons world.

Afterwards we spent the day relaxing and stopping along the coast as we headed back to grandmas.

Happy 9th Birthday Bailey!

Miss Bailey turned 9 yesterday. She got to celebrate her birthday all weekend long. On Saturday she invited a few friends to get pizza and go ice skating with us.

Taking a break from ice skating with friends Kylie, Aspen, and Erika.

Then sunday night, we headed to Grandma Davis' house for a special birthday dinner and cake.

Jackson was relaxing and sure loved grandmas new furry throw (below)

Then on Monday, she was invited to her friend Lexi's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Since the two friends share a birthday, They celebrated both with more pizza, games and they both got to go in the ticket blaster, and more cake.

This girl had a great 9th Birthday and said that it was the best ever! Happy Birthday Sweet Bailey!

I think Trent and Kyle had as much fun as the kids did!

BSU game

For our Anniversary in August, Trent bought us Boise State football tickets. I know it's not the most romantic, but it is a BYU vs Boise State game, so I was excited. We also got extra tickets so our friends, the Belnaps, could come too.  Since it was over a month away, we had time to get a sitter and Trent was able to take the next day off work. The game started at 8pm, so we didn't get out of there until after midnight and home by 1am. Crazy night, but it was so much fun. Best date night in a long time, and a great 12th Anniversary gift.

After he bought our tickets, Trent thought that it would be fun to do a boys night with Nick at a BSU game. Nick had a great time and enjoyed the night, but he "mostly liked the food." Trent said that every half hour he wanted to go and get something else to try. The mini donuts were his favorite. I'm glad these two could have a special night together.

Western Idaho Fair

Bailey has been working on a few paintings with Grandpa Davis and decided to enter them in the fair. When she saw all the categories that she could enter, she decided that she wanted to make and decorate a cake also.

Her paintings turned out great and were super easy to submit. The cake however was a royal pain. Both she and Nick wanted to decorate a cake. So the morning they were to be turned in, we baked 2  8 inch cakes. They could each submit one single layer. Bailey cut her cake in two and added a strawberry filling. Nick decided to frosting his cake green and put lemon frosting on. By the end of that morning, the kitchen was a disaster, frosting was everywhere, the cakes were pretty messy looking and mommy was pretty overwhelmed and frustrated....

Fast forward two days later....

Nick's cake won 3rd prize (which I was completely shocked, but maybe they gave him a prize for being the only 6 year old boy to decorate a cake) and Bailey's  got 2nd place. Bailey's paintings ended up getting a 1st place and a 2nd place. After seeing how excited and proud they were, I decided that we will give it a go again next year and maybe I just need to relax a bit.

Since Trent was off work still and Grandpa Campbell and cousin Trevor were here from the camping trip, we all went to the fair . It was hot but lots of fun. The pig races were back, there is always good fair food and the kids had a blast on the rides.

camping trip to end the summer

Trent took the week off work to help me with the kids and get them ready for school. He decided to take Bailey and Nick camping for a night and invited his dad to come up and go with them.

The kids had a blast camping up at Cascade and swinging into the lake on a rope swing. They headed to Riggins the next day to sight see and go fishing. While they were there, a helicopter came up to the river to get water for a fire they were fighting just up the mountain. They enjoyed watching helicopters come and get big buckets full of water and drop on the fire on the mountain across from them. Everyone seemed to have a great time and were ready for a shower and their bed when they got home.

Happy Easter

I tried to make the best of Easter Sunday this year. After waking up and finding their Easter baskets, I made Resurrection rolls for breakfast with the older kids. They are rolls that you wrap a marshmallow in, but when you take them out of the oven, they are empty.

We stayed home from church again today to make sure everyone is better. I'm pretty sure Nick is better, but not sure if Bailey and the babies are still contagious. Bailey ended up getting the rash also, and has sores all around her mouth. Her sore throat just went away today. She will be staying home from school for the next day or two until her face is cleared up. Supposedly you are contagious a full week after you get it, but some doctors say until the sores all go away. The babies seem to be back to normal, but still have hard scabs all over.  This is a nasty virus that I wouldn't wish upon anybody, but we survived!

I did let the older kids do an egg hunt a few days ago, but told Bailey not to get too close to her friend Erika

Jackson definitely enjoyed his chocolate bunny

 And playing with Bailey's stroller

Bailey wanted to dress up even though we didn't go anywhere. She looked pretty finding eggs though

Nick was sure fast

Here are the babies baskets and the older kids below. Trent said that the Easter bunny really spoiled the kids this year, but after the week we had, I think it was deserved.

And I'm so glad that Miss Bailey is finally starting to feel better. Now to just get rid of the painful sores on her face...and Tuesday is class picture day, so I hope they start to heal quickly

Hopefully Spring break next year will be full of fun adventures, but I will say, that it was pretty relaxing to stay home all day, every day. Most days the kids stayed in their Pjs. I am ready for kids to head back to school and so glad that everyone is feeling better.
