Today we woke up to a winter wonderland- full of snow! The kids were so excited that I bundled them up and had to go outside for a bit. When it stops snowing I promised Bailey that I would make a snowman with her!

Every night I have to wash and condition Bailey's full, thick, head of hair before bed. After it is clean I have to brush and braid it. If I don't braid her hair it will be FULL of tangles the next morning.... And most of the time it is anyways. Finally Trent had enough of her complaining and crying and said, "That's it, she is getting a haircut" Bailey was a little reluctant of cutting her hair, but quickly got excited at the idea of going to the place with the pink car chairs.

We had a blast while on vacation. It was so nice to see my brother Jeff and his wife, my grandparents, aunts, uncles and my cousin Rachel who I haven't seen in a few years! The weather was perfect so we were able to do a lot of fun things.

Trent did get Poison Oak again when he was helping Grandpa on his ranch.We stopped at an urget care to get him medication on the way out of town so he wouldn't be miserable the whole way home.

We made it to Reno and stopped at Circus Circus to stay the night(it is about half way)and the kids loved all the lights.

When we woke the next day I guess Bailey had been away from home too long. She threw a HUGE temper tantrum. I thought someone would come knock on the door to make sure we weren't killing her- that's how loud and crazy she was. We decided to stay an extra night so the kids could relax a bit before getting back in the car for another 7 hours. We went to the carnival and watched a few shows and went back to the room.

On the tram- the kids thought it was a ride, so we rode it over and over going back and forth to different hotels.

Whe we got back to the room, Bailey threw ANOTHER HUGE tantrum. She was so out of control we just let her get it out. This one was anout 20 minutes of her being hysterical. She fell asleep and woke the next day a whole new, sweet little girl. And a better day to leave with two happy, content kids!

Yep, we made it to California and have been having a blast. It has been nice and warm here, about 70-80 degrees. Yeay! We made it to the beach, had fish and chips, got to ride the horses, went on a jeep ride and went shopping. We have done everything that was on our "things to do" list.

Merry Merry Christmas!

My brother Casey and his family were able to come up to Idaho and spend Christmas with us. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve Dinner together, then went and doorbell ditched some treats to friends and ended with a bag from Santa on our doorstep with PJ's for all the kids.

This morning we woke up and opened some gifts before heading out to chuch. We had a wonderful sacrament program then were able to come home since church was only an hour today!

Early Christmas Gift

Ok, so she is not ours. A friend of ours got little Lucy as a early Christmas gift...and we got to watch her one day for a little while. She is just the cutest little thing.

We are now dogless. A few weeks ago our dear sweet Molly (ok more like stubborn noisy Molly) went to Heaven. I got her in High School so she was pretty old. She was a great dog and its just not the same without her! So, I was excited when I got to watch this little cutie and have another little dog around.

I finally got a few pictures of the kids before church that turned out half way decent, so I thought I'd post a few!

An eventful weekend

We have been so busy getting ready for the holidays. A few weeks ago the kids visited Santato get pictures for cards (they didn't turn out very well) Then yesterday we got to see him again, this time in a barn in Emmett. It was a Christmas Party for kids that was completely free. Bailey and Nick loved the small petting zoo, seeing Santa, getting a cute teddy bear and the pony rides. There was a lady taking family pictures and they turned out so cute! Too bad I already sent out the Christmas cards with the Santa pictures...oh well.

Then Bailey and I went to a parade last night (Nick was not feeling well so daddy readily volunteered to stay home)

After my fun date with Bailey, I noticed that Nick's temp. was super high and that he was having trouble breathing. So now what to do? It's late Saturday night... do I wait and see how he does, or take him in and have the Dr. politely say that he just has a cold or flu and there is nothing to do. Well, I couldn't watch him wheeze any longer so I took the poor boy in. On the way to the Urget care about 30 minutes away, HE THREW UP ALL OVER THE CAR! Now he is an awful mess, I didn't bring any extra clothes and it is freezing outside. SO I take him in a complete mess.

It turned out that he did have a viral infection, Bronchialitis, where his lungs were inflamed and he wasn't getting enough oxygen in. We left a little later with an inhaler, some steriods and a strict warning to watch him all night and take him to the ER if it persists. Luckily he went to sleep and even though he is still wheezing, I think he will be ok until his Dr. appointment in the morning.

Here's Nick in the dog's bed all tuckered out from not feeling well. He has NEVER just laid down and fallen asleep...this is a first for him.

Besides all this, Trent has all his finals thsi week starting tomorrow. He didn't have as much time as he would have liked to study, but I guess that is what comes with being a parent.

Night time prayers

Since our bedroom is downstairs and Bailey's room is upstairs, we have a baby monitor that sits next to her bed in case she needs something during the night. Tonight when I was in my room, I heard her in the monitor saying her prayers and it went like this...
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Thanks you for this day, Please help daddy to remember to wear his seatbelt, please help dadddy to be safe and Mommy and Nicholas.And please help that our bums don't hurt. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

It was just about the cutest thing I had ever heard and the first time I heard her say it all by herself!(And she has had a bit of a rash so her bum has been bothering her :)

Bailey had another singing performance, but this time it was at a retirement home. While Bailey was busy singing and dancing, Nick made a new friend!

Nick went right up to this man to say "hi" and the man put his arms out, so Nick climbed right up on his lap...I think they both enjoyed it!

Happy Holidays

We have been so busy all week getting ready for the holidays. Trent had the week off of school, and instead of relaxing, he was on the roof putting up Christmas lights, getting a Christmas tree, going under the house to get boxes of Christmas decorations, helped with cooking and cleaning, and on top of it all, he had homework to do. But we managed to do almost everything we had on our "to do list" for the week.

This Thanksgiving was different not having my parents around or going to Utah with Trents family. We had dinner with my brother Matt and his family though so we weren't all alone. Putting my sister in law, Brandy, and my cooking skills together, we made a pretty yummy turkey dinner with all the fixings and of course pumpkin pie.

I only took one picture and that was of the table before we ate. We had paper plates to eliminate some of the clean up...not a fancy table setup, but a very toddler friendly one!

Then I took a small nap so I could stay up all night shopping. My friend Ashleigh and I headed out at 9:30 pm and were part of the black Friday madness...and it was COMPLETE MADNESS. I got a few bargains, but I mostly went to have fun. We started at Walmart, headed to Target (the line was doubled around the store with an hour until open time) so why wait when we'd be so far back anyways? So we headed to ShopKo, then back to Target then Toys R US (And back to Target to get the items we hid when we saw that the line to pay was twice around the store and 2-3 hour wait.) We ended the night with Bath and Body works then Old Navy and got home at 5am.

And of course when I get home, Trent and both kids were awake in my bed. Nick was up most the night wanting me and Bailey just happened to wake up before I got home so there we all were, awake at 5. I think by 6:00 all four of us were asleep in the same bed...good thing we have a king!

Then today, Bailey had a singing performance at the Boise Festival of Trees. This was her first performance and she was fun to watch. She didn't sing at all during the first song, just bounced along... but did ok singing "Santa Claus is coming to town" Luckily her good friend Abi was also in the group so she followed what Abi was doing. (I will post a video of it soon)

Sunday

ok, It's Sunday night and I can FINALLY let out a sigh of relief. Things have been hectic lately. My parents left on their mission a few weeks ago,so we have been moving furniture and setting up rooms and trying to get the house organized and clean. Then it was Halloween, with sickness following each person in the family. Last Sunday I felt like I finally had things under control when Trent gets a call from the bishopric...that's not good. I knew it was the inevitable call for us giving talks...dang it! We both gave talks today in church on "Hope" and they turned out pretty good. Then when I got home I got a call from mom and dad in LATVIA. They made it safely. It was nice to hear their voice and know that they got there ok...I am now relieved that this Sunday is almost over and hopefully I can have a non stressful coming week.

Bailey had pre school this morning and her teacher asked if a few moms could help with all the fun Halloween activities planned. The kids made a spider bag (Painting their fingers black to make 8 legs) and decorating cupcakes, making a carmel apple and a cute spider book. Then they got to dress up as mummy's!

My parents left this morning to Utah and will report to the MTC on Monday. It was a little sad to see them go since I am so close with my parents. My mom is one of my best friends and we do so much together that it will be an adjustment that they will be on the other side of the world when I need them. Oh well, I know that they will have a blast and be wonderful missionaries!

A little early this year

We are starting the holidays a bit early this year. Last weekend we were bored so we headed to the local pumkpin patch/carnival with the kids. We all had a great time riding the hayrides, pony rides, picking pumkpins from the patch, going through the cornmazes and playing in the box full of corn kernals.

We all got to pick our own pumpkin...but the rule was that you could only get one that you could carry yourself...Nick found the perfect size!

After picking pumpkins from the patch, the kids were pretty worn out.

Tonight in Meridian, the police were doing a trunk or treat for the kids. They passing out candy from the trunk of their police cars. Bailey and Nick dressed up and went trick of treating! How fun, being that we still have two weeks before the BIG NIGHT of trick or treating...this was just a trial run !

Goodbye 30, Hello 31

Another year has come and gone. This year I had some awesome friends really take care of me. Two of my BFF's (Ashleigh and Keri) came in the morning and brought donuts and chocolate milk and we had a "mini" party.

That is an awesome giant cupcake holder!

Trent was able to take me to dinner, a movie and some frozen yogurt that evening. We saw Abduction and ate at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was so nice to have a nice "Date" away from the kiddos. And a shout out to my parents who watched the kids for us.

The next day I have to say was my favorite. Ashleigh signed us up for makeovers at MAC so we were able to get our makeup done and go for a shopping trip. After eating at Cafe Rio (yep there is one now in Boise)we headed to the mall and had so much fun.

I came away with these bad boys for only $10 Dillards what a deal they were reg. $60! And I love wedges and high heels, so these will be great with a pair of jeans! I also got a few other bargains that made my day!

Bailey was invited to join a small group of kids to do a pre-school for just one day a week. I'm not huge into two years of pre-school (Since they have so much schooling that they have to do later) but I thought that one day a week is perfect for both her and me! Next year she can go up to two or maybe even three days a week, but for now this is great!

She has been waiting for her school to start, so when she woke up this morning all excited, she said "I'm going to school and work today like daddy". She absolutely loved it and was so excited to tell me everything they did.

Today she learned the letter A and even came home with a apple dumpling that she made...so cool.

Donald Rush Davis, 93, of Atascadero died peacefully in Templeton on Sept. 6, 2011.

Don and his wife lived in Atascadero 49 years. Don was born in 1918 in Belle Fouche, S.D., and was the seventh of nine children born to Jerome and Myrtle Parsons Davis. He survived all of his siblings.

Don had an interesting life growing up during the depression in South Dakota. His grandchildren were avid listeners when “Grandpa” shared stories of his youthful adventures. At age 13, Don and a friend, hopped on a freight train and rode it to Wyoming. They were taught survival skills by the “hobos.”

Don served as a medic in the Army during World War II. He returned from the war in 1946 and married Lorraine Ruby Sullivan of Duluth, Minn. Don and Lorraine were blessed with six children. Their first child was born in Berkley, but all the rest were born in Duluth, Minn. In 1960, the family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have been active in the church ever since.

Don worked for the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway and in 1962 moved his family to Atascadero after he accepted employment with the Southern Pacific Railroad. He loved working for the railroad but he had a competitive spirit and his greatest passion was sports.

He will be remembered as a friend to everyone. He was charitable, loving, hardworking, and loved sports of all kinds.

Don is survived by his lovely wife of 65 years, Lorraine; his sons, Craig (Patti), Scott (Karlynn), Brian (Karen) and Jason (Nanette); two daughters, Diane Lemmon (Blaine), and Debra Scott (Martin); 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

“We look forward to the day when we will be reunited with him again,” his family said.

Services to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Monday, Sept. 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2600 Ramona Road, Atascadero. Viewing will be at 9 a.m., service to follow at 10 a.m. All friends invited to attend.

We will miss you Grandpa!

My Grandpa Davis passed away yesterday morning. He had a stroke a few months ago and his health has been declining since. Even though it was not totally unexpected, It is still hard to lose someone close to you that you love so much.

Grandpa was 93 years old and was such a great man. He had 6 children and it was through him that the gospel came to our family. He accepted the missionaries into his home and each member of his family was eventually baptized.

We will surely miss grandpa on this earth (especially my sweet grandma), but I know that he is with his siblings and parents on the other side. I also know that his journey is not over and that we will all get to see him again on the other side.

Hawaiian Paradise

Our 7 year anniversary is tomorrow, so to celebrate, Trent and I took a night away. This was the first time that we have gotten to spend the night without the kids since Bailey was born. My parents agreed to watch them overnight (which is not easy with my two)and since they will be gone the next 18 months we decided to jump at the chance.

We stayed at the Anniversary Inn in Boise and stayed in the Hawaiian Paradise Room. It really was amazing and so nice to get to spend the night without worrying about getting home to the kiddos.

Perfect way to celebrate 7 years.

Last weekend we went to the Campbell Family Reunion near Logan Utah, but the campsite was actually in Southern Idaho. We had a great time...probably because we stayed in a hotel instead of camping. The kids loved being outside all day playing with their cousins and getting nice and dirty. I also got to stop and see my BFF Samantha! YEAY!

Big Changes

few big changes are taking place for our family.

1st- Our stake is being split and our ward boundaries changed. Last week it was announced that my small subdivision street along with 4 others behind our house are being switched to another ward that meets in another building. It will be nice to be released and not have to be in charge of the monthly "Enrichment" meetings, but will be hard leaving all my friends and familiar people behind. There are only a few of us leaving, but at least I wont be starting all over.

2nd- this is the biggie...my parents turned in their mission papers a few weeks ago, and got their call today. They will serve for 18 months in the Baltic States Mission, that encompasses Lativia, Estonia and Lithuania. They will be over CES (Church Educational System)like the seminary program and working with the youth and YSAs. If you are from the Fresno West Stake, you probably know that President Boswell is the Mission President already over there. He made a "request" for them to come. They will report to the MTC Oct 31.....And yes...we WILL housesit for them while they are gone, which works out perfect as Trent will be done with school when they get back....yeay

We have been really busy this summer, but having lots of fun. We have gone to several "movie at the park" nights and the kids absolutely love them. We don't get home until after midnight, but the next day is Saturday so we get to sleep in. We have also been enjoying all the parks around here and the perfect weather.

Jury Duty

Ada County Courthouse in Boise

I had jury duty this week. Usually I get dismissed so I wasn't too worried until I called the night before and was told that I had to report. When I arrived they took the whole room of people before the judge and attorneys and put you on the spot by asking specific questions. There were 30 people and only 6 chosen, so I knew that I was off the hook...until I heard these words" Juror #1 Melissa Campbell" Suck! This was a two day trial... that was about a vehicle hitting a bicyclist. As nice as it was to have two days away from the kids, it was just as exhausting!

In the end it was a great experience, but hopefully I will not have it for a long time.

All Girls Fiesta

Last nightwe had an All Girls Fiesta for Relief Society- Meaning girls of all ages were invited so Bailey could come to. Since I am 2nd counselor in RS and over the "weeknight meetings" I was in charge of putting this event on. It turned out great with over 125 people, great food, swimming, photos, and tons of fun! It was my first big dinner and I'm really relieved to get it over with.

Freedom Festival

We were able to visit Utah this year for the 4th. Trent had time off work, so we thought "why not" and headed down. This trip we mostly hung out with family since our schedule was pretty full, but we managed to do quite a bit. Our first stop was temple square. I had not been there in about 5 years so it was time to visit...and Bailey enjoyed seeing the temple and all the pretty fountains and pools!

We then had his grandparents Campbells 70th wedding anniversary! Yep, 70 years and still going strong.

The cake had all their children and grandchildrens names- not sure if there was room for all the great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren they have!~

Later on that evening, Trent's sister Sondra and her kids stayed for a few fireworks and we had a great time- Trents loves that aerial fireworks are now legal in Utah!

The next day my friend Gina from California happened to be in Utah also, so I got to see her brand new adorable twin baby girls!

Then for the 4th we headed to Provo for the freedom parade that was spectacular...it has amazing floats and even the giant cartoon balloons. My favorite(besides all the missionaries from the MTC) were the BYU ones...it sure brought back a lot of great memories being there.

And ended a perfect holiday with a BBQ and fireworks with trent's huge family!

God and Country Festival

They have a God and country festival here in Idaho. It is to celebrate the country and our religious freedom. They have it about a week before the 4th of July, and they have bands and music to listen to, and a fireworks show afterwards. A group of friends joined us to hang out for the evening. It's funny because it doesn't get dark here until 10:30, so the fireworks didn't even start until about 11. It was a late night for us, but we had a great time hanging out with friends.

Our Idaho Summer

So besides trying to camp, we have been enjoying the summer here in Idaho with other fun activities. I love that the days get hot, but evenings are always cool. I remember in Fresno even at 11pm it would be in the 90's. Here it is mild. Yesterday was 93 degrees but by evening there were thunder clouds, which turned into a crazy lightening storm with rain and a nice cool breeze.

Our summer so far has included the Cherry Festival in Emmit,evenings and/or morning walks, going to the park, swimming, hitting some garage sales and Bailey getting to ride her little pony again (See last years post for more info on her little pony friend) We are looking forward to more visiting family and the reunions during the next few months.

The irrigation canals are going again.They start in Spring and are full until fall when they stop the water. These canals are everywhere around here- winding throughout cities and subdivisions- that pump water to your sprinkler systems. You don't get monitored on how much water you can use...and its free!

Fun while it lasted

Trent loves camping and has been wanting to go for the last 7 years that we have been married. For some reason, I finally gave in (probably because we are going to a Campbell family camping reunion in August and I needed to practice). Anyways, we had a great time and the kids loved it....until bedtime. Bailey finally went to sleep around 11 and Nick was even harder. He only wanted to be in his own bed. I finally got him to sleep, only for him to wake up SCREAMING about an hour later. There was nothing I could do to calm him down...bottle, rocking him, standing up...nothing. And he was so LOUD that I felt as if we were waking up everyone! So, at 1:00am we left our tent and belongings behind and drove a few hours and got home around 3 am. Trent went back this morning to get all our stuff. Lesson learned- DO NOT CAMP WITH A BABY! I think that I will be finding a hotel in the area of the family reunion.

A few months ago, Trent and I decided to join the YMCA. They are fantastic! They have every class imagineable, a few huge pools, a kiddie pool area complete with waterslides and a lazy river, and the best thing they offer is... childcare! Yes, they watch your kids up to 2 hours while you work out! Score! We have been taking advantage of the cardio and the pool, but I need to take a few classes. They do have a family Zumba that I went to last Satuday and had a blast. They also have a Zumba gold for older people that I am trying to get my mom to go to! Anyways, if you are near a YMCA, you'll have to check it out!

Did anyone else love the American Idol Finale? I thought that it was so much fun (except for LAdy gaga who makes me want to hurl)A friend if mine had an American Idol party at her house so we watched it with a bunch of friends and had a great time. And...it doesn't hurt that Scotty won since I've been voting for him since the beginning- although Lauren is a cutie too!

Our ward Relief Society started the Celetial University program last fall. It is basically a goal program where you choose a major (mine is Interior design) and you have to complete a certain amount of goals per each topic. One of the goals is to make a flower arrangement and use it as a centerpiece. I had a few ladies over and we had fun working on this goal together...

The Final 3 on American Idol

Ok, so I am a little obsessed over American Idol, but is anyone else SUPER dissappointed that James was kicked off? I must admit that I am a Scottie and Lauren fan, but I knew that James was really good and thought that he was going to be the next winner. But,to my dismay, Hailey somehow got through again. I was so dissappointed and wish that I had voted for James...he really did deserve to win...or at least be in the top 3!

Is all I wanted for Mothers Day is a cute picture with my 2 kids and a husband where everyone is looking, smiling and the picture doesn't turn out blurry. Is that too much to ask for? I got the kids all ready for church and still had an extra half hour, so I thought, perfect...lets get pictures. The kids were just not having it but we got a few that will work. I think I am going to have to get some professional ones done, just so I can get a few GREAT PICTURES. I had a great Mothers Day nonetheless...

More Easter Fun

This week we had a lot of fun getting ready for Easter with egg coloring, hunting and finding treats left by the Easter Bunny.

Bailey colored eggs for the first time and they turned out great- and not too messy!

I decided to do a playgroup egg hunt at the park this year so the toddlers & preschoolers could have fun finding eggs without the big kids finding them all. We had a great turnout a lots of fun!

A jungle Babyshower

Last night I helped with a babyshower for the Relief Society President in my ward, Blu. She just welcomed home the cutest baby boy a few weeks ago named Liam. We were able to reserve the clubhouse so we had plenty of room to sit and gab. I decided to do a jungle theme and it turned out pretty cute.I was especially proud of my little jungle cupcakes!

We have now moved on to Las Vegas. We drove another six hours from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas and are staying with my brother Casey and his family in their brand new house. The weather is PERFECT here and we are having fun. I took the kids to a park this morning and it was a really neat park. Here are a few more pictures of our adventures in California. We will soon be headed to Utah to spend the rest of the week and will meet up with Trent (He has been in school and working at his new Intern position at an Engineering Company)Yeay!

Our California Adventures

We are now a week into the trip. We started out last Wednesday and stayed the night in Reno at the Sands Hotel. The kids loved being on the 15th floor and looking out the window at the cars below. The next day we headed to Manteca to stay with my brother Jeff and his wife. After visitig them, we took off to Madera and stayed with the Gaufins for a few days. I got to go to church in Madera where I grew up and got to see old friends (Gina who is Prego with twins and Jennifer Underwood who is recently engaged)After church we headed to the coast to see my grandparents. We stopped by grandparents Davis then headed to the ranch to stay for about a week. These are a few of the pictures that we have taken so far.

My baby boy turned one yesterday. He is WALKING, talking and growing so fast. He had his 12 month checkup yesterday morning and he has an ear infection and a cold, but here are his stats.

weight- 18 lbs- only the 2nd percentile....which means we need to feed this boy! He has to stay on Pediasure until he gets his weight up.

height- 31 inches- 93rd precentile- so he is tall and skinny

head- 30th percentile- just below average in the size of his head.

We are taking a much needed vacation next month. Starting out we will be heading to Madera and Fresno, then spend a week at the coast with both sets of grandparents then heading to visit my brother in Las Vegas and rounding out the trip with almost a full week in Utah. It has been a year since we have gone anywhere, and I am so excited to get out and travel. What fun it will be to see old friends and family! I can't wait!

ok, so I am a bit embarassed by this, but I guess I should be proud that I was asked. A girl I know asked me to be a model for her plus size clothing online store. At first I was flattered but still nervous to do something that I never, in my wildest imagination, thought I would do. During the shoot I was very uncomfortable doing this, especially next to the size 2 models, but it was an experience that I will always remember and something that I can laugh at~ Me a model~too funny!

I have a hard time being cooped up in the house all the time during teh cold winter months, so we have a weekly playgroup that I take the kids to. It is nice to get the kids out and get some exercise.

It has been 3 years since I had this precious girl. We were supposed to have a few friends over Friday morning to play with Bailey, but it ended up being a full on birthday party. It was pretty hectic with 10 little kids under the age of 5, but we did it and Bailey had so much fun. We had a bowling game, a treasure hunt, a fruit toss, then the kids got to make their own pizza. Baileys birthday is today so we just had the family sing to her and she got her pink heart-shaped cake! Happy Birthday Bailey, We love you!

January... fun (and no fun)

I feel like it has been awhile since I posted, so here is a little blurp of our January. First, we have all been sick, sicker and sickest...starting with stomach flu, strep throat, colds, another round of stomach flu (and yep, more throwing up)back to a cold, pink eye and now another form of flu with fever and chills, but no throwing up. We have all been sick one after another since December started. I hope this is the last round because we have ALL been feeling pretty crummy! But, we have found a few days in between where we feel better, so we make sure to really go out and have blast while we are feeling good!

We took the kids to Pojos and they had fun playing games and going on rides (PoJos is a mix between Chuck e Cheese and Johns Incredible Pizza(in Fresno)

My freind Ashleigh and I took the kids to a new play area called Jabbers. They had fun playing in the giant playhouse, riding bikes along a track, going shopping at the Farmer's Marker with their own carts, and relaxing by teh BBQ (which is what Bailey is doing in the picture below) and just being silly!

Mother Goose

Trent's family has a tradition of Mother Goose on New Years Day. On New Years Eve they put a shoe out for Mother Goose and the next morning it is filled with goodies (Trent said that it was usually school supplies or toothbrushes and small things). Every year since we've been married we have done this little tradition, and it is kinda fun. This year was the first time we did it with the kids and that Bailey could understand a little better... but I wanted to know if anyone else has heard of this tradition, or is it just the Campbells that do this? I was just curious because I had never heard of it before, but it is definitely a fun tradition that we will keep up!

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

At the end of each year I print my blog out into a book. This will be my last post of the year, so I just wanted (Mainly for me and my journaling purposes) go over the highlights (and lowlights of the year).

This year started out huge with a move from Fresno, California to a tiny town in Idaho called Star. It was a huge adjustment for us, especially moving in with my parents, but we managed and are actually enjoying this time where we can take advantage of babysitting (and having no bills!) Even though it can be rewarding, it has also been hard and we can't wait until we have a place of our own.

Then in February, we had an addition to the family, Nicholas Ryan Campbell. He is such a joy and so much fun. I almost can't remember what it was like without him!

Trent started Boise State and is continuing in the Mechanical Engineering program. He got a few more semesters completed this year, but with transferring it added on another semester of credits that didn't transfer- bummer! He enjoys the school and we are really getting into the BSU football here- It is addicting to watch!

I take a Zumba class twice a week and love the girls that I work out with (haven't lost much weight, but am slowly toning). I will be in my first recital on Jan 8- I know, recitals are for little girls, but we are just doing an intermission dance because my instructor is trying to recruit more moms to join us!

Bailey loves her nursery class and still has another whole year before she is a Sunbeam. Her Best friend Abi is a year older and will move up this week, which may be a bit hard for Bailey.

Nick is crawling and wanting to walk, but I'm really not pushing him to hurry. He is so much fun, but also can be quite stubborn and throws little tantrums if he doesn't get what he wants- they learn early!

We have made a ton of new friends and love the people here, but we also miss our California friends and everyone we left behind. It is always hard to start over, but so fun when you start to get to learn new things and get to know more people.

We have been so blessed and have enjoyed 2010 and all the "new" things it brought to us, but are looking forward to 2011 and everything it will bring. So to everyone out there, "Happy New Year" from the Campbell Family!

Merry Christmas - tons of pictures

This year was a bit different for us, being so far away from my grandparents and extended family. We were here in Idaho with my mom and dad and ended up with a fantastic Christmas Eve...and Christmas day(so far). Last night we invited a few people from our ward over who didn't have any place to go. We had a big Turkey Dinner, watched the birth of Jesus in the Nativity movie, sang carols, and went to see an amazing Christmas light show in Meridian. My dad and Leona singing carols Donna opening up her blanket Bailey and daddy with Santa mommy and cranky Bailey riding a firetruck around the block with Santa Claus A light display in Boise, where Santa takes you for rides around his neighborhood in either his 1941 firetruck or his sleigh This display in Meridian is by far the best I have ever seen. The lights dance to music. A 15 year old somehow rigged his lights to the computer. You turn your radio to a specific station and the lights blink to the music playing on the station. down n out

This last week we have been sick with the stomach flu. Friday night we had a ward talent show (we did a skit that turned out really fun!) Then we woke up Saturday morning to upset stomachs (thinking we ate something bad from the church event)...followed by vomiting and everything else. We thought it was the 24 hour bug, but it lasted almost a full week. It is now Friday and I think today was the first day that I feel myself again. Bailey got it also, but Trent only a mild case. I'm just sooooo glad to be feeling better! Nick may have actually been the first to get it and we didn't know, so he has been feeling GREAT all this week. While we have been down and out, this is how Nick has been feeling...

Snow Day

Today was our first official Snow Day in Idaho. We got a call at 6:30 this morning saying that Boise State was cancelling classes today, so Trent gets to stay and play! Our subdivision doesn't get plowed, so were stuck for awhile until some melts! Fun Times!

Davis Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving was a bit different this year since we are in Idaho. Usually we go to my grandparents house who live in San Luis Obispo, California. It has always been tradition to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with the grandparents and have fun on my grandpa's ranch. So this year it was different but just as great. It snowed the day before (not too much, just a tiny bit to make things pretty) and was fun to let Bailey play in it a bit. We had dinner at my parents with my brothers Matt and Casey and their families. We enjoyed eating, a bit of shopping and making gingerbread houses together. I admit that I do miss the Holidays in California with my G&G, but I'm sure that we will soon get used to the new traditions we will make in Idaho.

To keep the grandkids occupied while dinner was cooking, my mom brought the slide in the house to let them play on- and they LOVED it!

Boise State vs. Fresno State

WE FINALLY made it to a BSU football game this year. We have been wanting to go, but it is hard to get a babysitter and Trent being off work at the same time....but we arranged it to have a date night. It was only about 30 degrees, so we bundled up and headed to Boise. After waiting about a half an hour to get in the gates (it was packed with people) we got in and found a spot in the student section on the VERY LAST ROW at the top. It was fun to see the Bulldogs again, and Trent was having a hard time deciding which team to route for...he did wear a Fresno State T-shirt, but it ended up under his coat since it was so cold! We had a great time (I wish it was a better game, BSU kicked trash) but fun all the same!

Usually I don't post about our Sundays because there is not much going on. But yesterday I happen to get a few pics of the kids before church all dressed up. Then, at church I got a new calling. I was bulletin specialist before (not so thrilling) but I'm now 2nd counselor in the RS Presidency. I am excited, but the first thing I thought of was, "Man, now I have to do lessons". For some reason, I have never wanted to teach a lesson in Relief Society. Primary and YW were fine, but Relief Society is so intimidating to me...oh well, I guess this is how we grow. At least I only have to do it a few times a year!

Trunk or Treat

Since Halloween was on a Sunday this year, we did the tri ward Trunk or Treat on Saturday in the church parking lot. There were 3 wards and hundreds of kids. It was really crazy(I've never seen so many kids all together running from car to car)but Bailey had so much fun. Nick slept through most of it which we didn't mind too much since he was asleep in his careseat and I didn't have to hold him the whole time. Last night we had a Halloween Party at the church. The kids are going to be monkeys for Halloween, but Trent and I wanted to dress up also, but were too lazy/cheap to make a costume, so we re-used last years costume...some of you probably recognize them, but nobody around here had seen them before. They go all out here in Idaho...well at least with their pumpkin patches. They have full on carnivals with pony rides,petting zoo, hay rides, corn mazes, train rides, play in piles of corn, jumping pillows, and so much more. Today I went with my mom and kids to one in Meridian. It was so fun and there was tons to do.

Nick decided that he didn't want to just sit and watch the world go by, so he decided to join in and crawl...he actually likes to have his hands held while he walks, but that gets old REAL fast, so he mostly crawls. He is growing up so fast, I just can't believe it. The weather here is so perfect all the time. It has been in the 70's for almost a month and this week in the high 60's. I really couldn't ask for better weather!

yep, it happened...yesterday I turned 30! I can't believe it. It is one of those numbers that always seemed so far off, yet it snuck up pretty quickly. I love being 30 so far...Trent is still in school and we don't own a house yet, but things seem pretty great for us anyways!

I would have thought that I would be a bit sad about being 30, but I have such great friends that they have made the WHOLE WEEK seem like my birthday. They started last Saturday with appointments to get makeovers- It was so much fun. I really didn't like mine too much, but I love getting them and I LOVE MAKE-UP so we had a great time anyways.

Then on Wednesday night (Since we were going out on Thursday) Trent made my favorite dinner, BBQ ribs, and invited some friends over.

Then on Thursday morning I headed to my Zumba class and walked in to a big "Happy Birthday". Trent took the whole day off so we got to lounge with the kids and run some errands. In the afternoon, my friend Ashleigh watched the kids while we had dinner and a movie. When we went to pick up the kids, there was a small group there with a cake ready. It was so cute and so much fun! I don't think I've had a birthday where so many people cared and thought about me. It was so special and so much fun that it really made turning 30 easy, So a BIG FAT THANKS to everyone making my birthday so great!

So Friday Night, Trent tells me that we are going to breakfast in the morning and that I have to be up at 7:00. I thought that it was weird that he gave me a time to be up. So I got up in the morning (he was still in bed telling me to get ready and he's be up soon) when the doorbell rang. Jana and Chelsea were there kidnapping me for breakfast. They took me to the Egg Factory in Nampa. It was so much fun, and as I mentioned before, my birthday REALLY was a whole week long. By the end, I was ready for the party to be over....now let's concentrate on HALLOWEEN!!!!YEAY!

Nick is now mobile and starting to crawl... which led to him falling off our bed, hitting his face on the corner of the nightstand and proceeding head first to the ground....and SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER. I felt so bad (although, not to point fingers or anything, I was helping B brush her teeth and someone else was SUPPOSED to be watching Nick) Anyways, When we woke up this morning, I noticed a little black and blue on his cute little face...poor baby! It could have been way worse though...I guess I better keep a closer eye on him now that he seems to be getting around pretty fast!

This is Bailey's favorite park. Any time she gets to go to the park, she wants to go to Settlers in Meridian. It has everything she could possible want plus more...water features, musical instraments, rock climbing, tons of play area, padded floors (instead of the wood chips that are always being thrown at other kids) and all types of sports areas...including Baseball, tennis, horseshoes and much much more. Anyways, we are enjoying the great weather and trying to stay outdoors as much as possible before winter sneaks in.

Last week was just hectic for our family. On Tuesday I had dental surgery and had a steel implant inserted into my gums(no pictures for this one...) I was put under, and got some pretty heavy pain meds, so by the next day I was fine (except for the annoying retainer I now have to wear for 3 months...yuck.)

Then on Friday I had planned a baby shower for a super cute girl in the ward...BUT...she went into labor (6 weeks early) and ended up in the hospital for a few days trying to keep her from having the baby. They released her on Saturday so we rescheduled for this week, but on the day of, she ended up back in the hospital so we had the shower without her...kind of a bummer!

And on Saturday, a friend and I planned a surprise 30th birthday party for another friend, Ashleigh. It was so much fun. The theme was "Life is sweet at 30" and everything had to do with sweets! So much fun! It was really hectic, and more people came than expected, but we all had a great time! Hopefully I can now relax a bit before another event.

This morning, I decided to head to Boise and surprise Trent with a visit. He has a few hours break between school classes, so we picked him up and headed to the Boise Train depot, got a bite to eat, headed to the park, then dropped him back off to BSU for the rest of his classes. We had a great day just hanging out with the kids and daddy!

Trip to the Fire Station

A friend of mine set up a trip to the fire station for her daughter, and invited us to go along with a few other friends. At first, almost all the kids (including Bailey) were scared of the firemen and really didn't want to go near them or the trucks. By the end of the tour, Bailey loved sitting in the fire truck and didn't want to leave.

Bishop Sannar

Clay Sannar, 42, a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Visalia, was fatally shot at a church at Tulare Avenue and Conyer Street on Sunday. Sannar was married, the father of six boys, and the owner of an agricultural services company in Visalia. - -

VISALIA -- The Modesto man accused of gunning down a church leader Sunday had a history of mental illness and often expressed hatred toward the Mormon church, court documents and interviews show.
Kenneth James Ward, 47, came to the attention of Modesto police several times from 1998 to 2004. On one occasion he threatened to kill a Mormon bishop, the city's police chief and police officers, according to court records.

Family members on Monday described those episodes as exceptions. Mike Ward, 44, of Bakersfield said his brother was "a lovable guy" who was not violent -- as long as he kept taking the medications that controlled his mental illness.

"He did not do this. My brother's mental illness did this," Mike Ward said. "We mourn for two families today."

But Kenneth Ward's anger with the church was well known. His father, George Ward, said his elder son was "definitely anti-Mormon, and yet he was raised in it. I don't understand how that happened."

Kenneth Ward was excommunicated from the church in the 1980s but later regained his church membership, Mike Ward said. He declined to provide more information. At the time, the family lived in a central Visalia neighborhood and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Visalia Second Ward on Tulare Avenue. Kenneth Ward later moved to Modesto.

He joined the Army, serving in Operation Desert Storm, and then received an early discharge after he re-enlisted, his father said. Ward, who had worked as a crane operator, was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder and went on disability, George Ward said.

His mother, Nancy, who is no longer living, reported to Modesto police in 2002 that her son was psychotic and was threatening to kill people, court documents show.

Court records also show that Kenneth Ward attempted suicide on one occasion and threatened to kill himself on another.

Even though Mike Ward said his brother sought to have his church membership reinstated, police records show he asked to be dropped from church membership in 2004. The records show he threatened to kill a Mormon bishop in Modesto, as well as the city's police chief -- also a Mormon -- and police officers when the bishop did not quickly carry out his wishes.

Kenneth Ward was arrested, pleaded no contest to a felony and was given probation.

Mike Ward said that when his brother went off his medications, he would go through "episodes," expressing anger toward the Mormon church.

Kenneth Ward had not suffered physical or sexual abuse or other incidents that might have explained the anger, his brother said.

Family members said Monday there was nothing to indicate that Kenneth Ward had homicide on his mind when he drove south from Modesto early Sunday.

Kenneth Ward left the home he shared with his father, his wife and their 6-year-old son, saying he was going fishing with a friend, George Ward said. But the friend told George Ward later that day he knew nothing about a fishing trip.

Kenneth Ward's destination was the church in Visalia that he had attended as a young man. Inside, he asked for the church's leader and entered the office of lay bishop Clay Sannar, a married father of six boys ages three months to 14 years.

Whether Ward intended to seek out Sannar, who was named the bishop of the Visalia Second Ward only four months ago, is a question that may never be answered.

Visalia Police Chief Colleen Mestas said there is no indication that the two knew each other.

Mestas said Sannar tried to prevent the shooter from harming anyone else. Sannar "yelled for everyone to get out of the building," she said Monday. "He really did act with heroism."

After shooting Sannar, Ward drove to a pay phone and called police to say he had shot the bishop and that they could find him in the nearby central Visalia neighborhood where his family had once lived.

When officers arrived, Ward stood in the intersection of Burrel Avenue and Divisadero Street and started shooting. He hit a police car before he was brought down by gunfire.

Monday, as Visalia police tried to piece together a motive, Mike Ward knocked on doors in the neighborhood where his brother was shot, apologizing to residents.

One woman said she tried to comfort Mike Ward on Monday.

Jovita Harrah's 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck was among at least three neighborhood vehicles struck by bullets during the shootout between Kenneth Ward and police.

Harrah said Ward did not need to apologize for his brother's actions. "Like I told him, 'My truck can be fixed, but you can't get your brother back.' "

Church officials know that two families are grieving their losses from Sunday's shootings, said Ralph Jordan, a church spokesman and leader.

"We are doing all we can to support the Sannar family in their loss. We appreciate the interest and condolences of our local faith community," Jordan said Monday in an e-mail. "We know there must be broken hearts and great sadness in the family of the other man. Our hearts go out to them as well."

Western Idaho Fair

Today we took the kids to the Western Idaho Fair. It was so nice! I am used to Fresno, where it is dirty and a lot of trashy, gangsta people. It was so nice to be in a clean fair, where we did NOT have to be patted down and go through a metal detector. The weather was perfect and it was a lot of fun. Trent started classes again today at BSU and didn't join us until the afternoon.

We started off at the pig races, a must at the fair!

Than had to stop by the petting zoo....Bailey was in Heaven! She loved petting and feeding all the animals. After about a half hour, we had to drag her away!

And brother Nick was also there, but he was either sleeping, or strapped onto mommy all day! Fun day at the fair!

Discovery Center

The Discovery Center in Boise is free every Friday until Nov, so we headed out on Friday to see what they have. Bailey has a best friend in the ward (Abi) and her mom called and invited us to go. It was so much fun. The girls had a great time, and it was nice to be able to go somewhere and NOT have to say "Don't touch" It was all kid friendly so B had a great time touching EVERYTHING!

Last week Bailey had been complaining that her teeth hurt...so I made a dentist appt. She is only 2 1/2 but it said on the pediatric dentist's website that it is suggested to go about 6 months after their first tooth comes in. I think that may be a little early, but since she was hurting I took her in. Luckily, it was just a canker sore... but she did really well anyways. She got 2 xrays , and had a check up with a cleaning and floride... Yay. The dentist was very proud of her and said that most 2 year olds would not let them do very much! Good Job B!

It was also the coolest dental office I had been. It was DENTAL CARE FOR KIDS and was so kid friendly. They had a huge pirate ship and fort on the waiting room, along with TV's in every room and on the ceilings in the exam room. Bailey was so scared and nervous about going, but their environment was so kid friendly that she enjoyed it and said, Mommy, I want to go to the dentist again! YEAY! That's what I want to hear!

mini reunion

This last week has been super busy and packed full of fun. My grandma Parsons and Aunt Pam came from San Luis Obispo, CA to visit(Grandpa wouldn't leave the ranch during fire season...and funny enough, there was a fire about 2 hours after grandma left...so Grandpa helped get it out with his fire truck!!! funny grandpa!). Then a few days later, my uncle Gary came from Michigan(who we haven't seen in about 10 years) then Aunt Brenda and cousin Ariel came from Utah. The house was packed full, but we had lots of fun playing games, having picnics, going shopping and visiting the nature center in Boise. Here are a few pics from the week.

Monkey Dooz

Some of you may know that Bailey has crazy hair. It is completely straight on the sides, but the back is tight curls. When she wakes up in the morning, she always has a huge snarly mess in the back. Well, after her bath last night, it took me a good 15 minutes to get the tangles out and of course Bailey was crying saying that it hurt....so I say, "well, if you want we can cut your hair!" She then replied "I want my hair cut" So this morning I made an appt at a place called Monkey Dooz, a salon for kids. Since it was going to be more than a trim, I decided that I needed a professional to help. It was so much fun...and not to pricey...they have toddler Tuesday where cuts are only $10. All Girls Party

Last night for our R.S. weekday activity(formerly known as Enrichment) we had an All Girls Party....with a BBQ and swimming. The people who own the house are from Atascadero, CA (Where I grew up when I was little) and know a lot of the same people my family does. It's funny what a small world this is!!!

Their house was amazing. It is right by the Boise River, has it's own pond with paddle boats and canoes, had a huge pool and waterfall and everything else they need to throw an awesome party...Sound system, built in trampoline, play area for the kids, Frisbee golf setup...It was pretty neat.

This post is mostly just updates for myself. Since I print my blog yearly, I like to make it like a mini journal/scrapbook. This just shows the kids and how much they are growing.

Nick is almost 5 months and enjoys bathtime(like most babies)

I FINALLY got a decent picture of both kids. They are dirty and tired, but at least they are both smiling!

This is how Trent watches Nick (or Ricky as Trent calls him)- He stays on the computer and put him on his head...c'mon Trent, can't you put the laptop down for a few minutes? (He was doing homework so I guess it may be a little justified)

Nick is now eating baby food and LOVING it. Bailey WOULD NOT eat baby food,and this guy loves sitting in the Bumbo and eating away- even peas adn greenbeans! He just finished eating in this pic, so his face it still a bit dirty!

Bailey and Nick are growing so fast. Bailey is now a litle girl. Yesterday we painted our nails togther and she wanted to do her makeup- she is only 2 1/2 and I'm not ready for her to be a big girl! Nick is out of his newborn stage, but I'm not too sad about that! I love that he looks at me and can give me a big smile with his cute dimples!

Trent is now back in the thick of school at Boise State- He is taking a few summer classes- which end in 2 weeks, then will start again in fall. He is now into his major classes so he's taking all Engineering classes except for one last math class.
We are still paying out of state tuition (about $7000 a semester...Yikes!) but only fall semester left before we will have been here a year and get cheaper tuition this winter.

Our 4th was a little different this year-

We started out on Saturday the 3rd with a kids parade in the subdivision. So, we dressed up B and headed down the block with the other neighborhood kids!

After the little parade, we went to the Middleton parade- unlike any I've ever been to. It is a small quiet town. When we got there someone said that we were sitting in the WET ZONE

No joke! I guess at the end of the parade route, it is a wet zone where people can throw water balloons and squirt water at the floats and people on the floats have water guns (or hoses) and squirt everyone as they go by. It was so funny! To top it all off, the fire department parks a truck with a water spout over the road, and completely drenches the parade participants.

Look closely and you will see a person in that water (they are the firemen from another town nearby). It was so crazy...and so much fun! You would never see this in California due to the huge drought and lack of water...

One last fun thing about this year~ They sell illegal fireworks here!~ That may not excite some of you, but they sell EVERYTHING here and do not get mad if you light them off....roman candles, firecrackers and artillery shells. When the sun went down, the fireworks were crazy- like every block has their own show with the huge fireworks in the sky...It was pretty cool!

(They do make you sign an affadavit that you will take the illegal ones out of the state to light them, but they don't enforce it in the city because there is no fireworks ordinance- SCORE!!!!)

This last weekend, one of my best friends (Samantha) came to visit us in Idaho. Then, last night we met up with another friend (Rachelle) who also grew up with us. The three of us had not been together since high school. It was so much fun to see them and to go down memory lane...

So Bailey made a big achievement this week by going potty on the potty chair all by herself...as in not needing any help until she was all done and said mommy, Bailey went potty! YEAY! We have been working on this for a few months and bribed her with Chuck E Cheese.

They now have a really neat machine that not only takes pictures, but sketches them...
so fun! and great job B!!!

Ok, this is a Trent post. He wanted me to post his Blackberry Messanger Barcode. For those of you who are wondering what this is- if you have a blackberry, you can scan this picture on your phone and it will automatically input Trent's info...

If you have a Blackberry, go into messenger, go into "Add new contact" then go to scan persons barcode. If you have an older version, you will need a pin- which is 20FFFDD0

The newer versions you just hold the phone up to the computer while it scans the picture and no pin is needed!

It is actually really cool and I never knew how to do it before. I will add my barcode when Trent shows me how to get one.

Here is Bailey with the pony (Angel) that we found on Craigslist for Bailey to ride. Angel was so tiny and super sweet, along with her owner who is also super sweet. She invited us to come back anytime and said that Angel will be Bailey's pony. I am so thrilled to find such an awesome lady who owns a bunch of horses and willing to let a complete stranger come and ride! We will be going weekly to let Bailey get her fill of riding.

OK, so Trent and I love Craigslist. We seem to always get good deals on things(usually baby items or electronics), and always get someone to buy the stuff we post. So, as most of you know, Bailey loves horses. Every time we see one she says "Bailey ride the horsie" and pony rides are not cheap (usually around $7 at the fair for just a few minutes)So today I decided to post on Craigslist that we have a 2 year old wanting to ride a pony a few times a month and that we would pay....no joke, within 5 minutes from the posting, an older lady called and said that she has an old pony that Bailey could ride on. She said that she can come as much as she wants, any time she wants and that they don't want any money for it.

Seriously, free pony rides. I love Craigslist and the great deals we can get!

Yesterday I went and had a mole removed on my neck. I have always had it, but it was getting bigger and changing color, so I thought I better remove it just to be safe. The Dr. put 4 stiches in to help it heal. When I got home Bailey couldn't stop staring at my neck. All day today, she has been saying, "mommy, you have legs coming out of your neck"

And yep, a shot in the neck does hurt!

We went to a huge Memorial Day Event at the Veteran's Cemetery. There were a TON of people there, and we didn't know that it was at the top of a hill about a mile from the road. So, with two kids and the raining weather, we trooped up to the top to remember and give thanks to our veterans!

Eagle Saturday Market

On Saturday, we had our first booth at the Eagle Saturday Market (basically a Farmer's Market) We were selling the fun hair bows,flowers, purses, headbands, pin cushions and other girly things that we made (me and my mom). The item that sold the most were the hard headbands with a flower on them (they are pretty popular right now)The weather was really windy and chilly, but we had a some people come out in spite of the weather. We will be selling again this Saturday, when it is suppose to be warmer weather. I actually enjoyed being there and watching all the girls stop by to look and try things on!

Quick Trip

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Utah to visit my brother Matt and Trent's family. We left on Friday afternoon when Trent got home from work and left Utah Sunday morning. It was nice to see some family, but we didn;t get to do too much as we only had 1 full day to visit. We did make it to Thanksgiving Point to let Bailey ride the ponies and it happend to be some sort of sheep event, so it was packed with people.
